| About the Author Born as Rene Sergio Cancio-Betancourt on the planet Earth, on August 29th, 1949. Ever since an early age he was complaining to his parents about dreams of flying with imaginary friends. He was told by his paternal grandmother and grandfather, whom raised him, that his dreams of flying were caused by having watched the movie Peter Pan, even though he argued that it was not so since he hadn't seen the movie yet; but his Grand-parents dismissed it as a child's vivid imagination. At the age of ten, his family made a major move to Miami, Florida; where he went to school from 5th grade, and graduating from high school in June of 1967. Soon after, with the ugly dispersion and the conclusion of a popular rock-band in which he was the lead singer and guitar player, he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada; and at the age of twenty started his career in the Casino Industry, in which most of his family had been involved in since before his birth. He concluded his casino career in October of 1991. In February of 1980, while on a coffee-break and sitting by the pool of one of the major hotels that he was employed by, he saw some lights moving in a very strange pattern in the clear Las Vegas' night sky. In fact, out of a large "light" there were little lights coming out of the large light as if in turns and then proceeding to fly in a circular pattern around the "large-light" three or four times, until they finally totaled seven lights! Suddenly, the smaller lights took-off in seven different directions at such a high speed, that they seemed to have disappeared, leaving the large light hovering in the same stationary place. Luckily, there happened to be other fellow workers from the "baccarat-pit" that he worked in that saw exactly the same thing, thereby removing the possibility of a hallucination! In the year 1985 he was involved in a deadly auto accident after which he was pronounced dead after loosing over seven units of blood, and from which he resuscitated unexplainingly after nineteen minutes as documented by the doctors. It was this death experience that completely changed forever his outlook on life, religion, death, and the "hidden-secrets" of creation. The Purpose of UFO Contact Scott Mandelker, Ph.D. Copyright 2000 With every passing year, the study of UFOlogy grows more complex, as UFO sightings and ET contacts continue across the world. We are faced with an enormous body of research at our disposal, well documented and extensively studied. Facing the dawn of the 21st century, we have no problem finding data to support the claim of true extraterrestrial visitation. Our problem is how to interpret and make sense of all this data. As we seek to uncover the deeper levels of meaning, we have to realize that empirical methods, for all their merits, have built-in limitations. Put simply, the scientific approach of most UFOlogists and SETI scientists gives us but a piece of the puzzle. While it does provide ample documentation of isolated events and experiences, it is completely unable to address the larger dynamics. UFOlogists have little to say about the metaphysics of such ‘visitors from beyond.’ However, there are other sources of information to consult. As documented by the many aspects of modern UFO/ET phenomena, that were well understood by ancient Hindu priests, extensively documented in The Vedic scriptures. We can find comparable material in the texts of almost all religions, including the Judeo-Christian and Native American traditions, such as the Mayan and Hopi. There is also a huge body of material in Western esoteric schools, including Theosophy, as well as from more modern “ET- channels.” All these sources offer a wealth of information on ‘Cosmic Life’ and its relation to Earth, and when wisely used, can help us fill in the gaps left by more recent empirical UFO research. Admittedly, the reliability of these sources varies, they offer no proof of their claims, and being based on subjective, non-empirical methods, they often suffer from exageration and “mythologizing.” Nonetheless, they do give us an important perspective, which, in some cases can help us interpret, and integrate, the disparate facts emerging from UFO investigation. It is arrogant and naïve for UFOlogy to dismiss all such sources, due to the distortions of “some.” It is prudent that we take a careful look. |
